MT4 vs MT5 Trading: Key Differences for Copying

MT4 and MT5 are MetaTrader platforms used to analyse markets, place orders, and run Expert Advisors. They are related but not interchangeable terminals. That distinction matters when a copier connects a master on one platform to a follower on the other.

MT4 and MT5 are separate platforms

MT4 uses MQL4 and MT5 uses MQL5, with separate Expert Advisor files and terminal folders. An EA compiled for one platform normally cannot simply be attached to the other. Select the correct copier file for every terminal.

Account mode changes the result

MT5 accounts can use netting or hedging. Netting combines trades for a symbol into one position, while hedging can keep separate tickets. MT4 and MT5 followers may therefore display multiple entries, partial closes, and opposite orders differently.

Compare the real trading workflow

Before choosing a platform or copier, check available symbols, contract specifications, minimum volume, broker rules, EA permissions, and VPS requirements. A demo test with an entry, modification, and close is more useful than platform labels alone.

Demo checklist (five minutes)

  1. One market entry on the master.
  2. Move SL or TP once.
  3. Close the position and confirm follower flat.

Trade Copierr provides hosted copier infrastructure and licensed EAs; results still depend on broker rules, symbol mapping, margin, and your lot settings. Use demo until the behavior matches your plan.
