MT5 Netting vs Hedging Accounts: What Trade Copier Users Need to Check
The same pair can behave differently on netting and hedging accounts. That difference matters when a master opens more than one position, partially closes, or sends an opposite order. Check the account mode before assuming the follower will display an identical position list.
Netting keeps one position per symbol
On a netting account, trades for one symbol are combined into a net position. A second entry may increase or reduce the existing position instead of creating another ticket.
Hedging keeps separate positions
A hedging account can hold multiple positions in the same symbol, including opposite directions. This is closer to a ticket-by-ticket view, but it still needs a volume and close-policy test.
Build the account-mode test into setup
Open two entries, modify one, then partially close. Review the terminal history and copier logs on both sides. If the strategy depends on separate tickets, do not skip this step.
A sensible way to test it
- Write down the expected result before sending the demo trade.
- Check the terminal history and the copier logs, not only the chart.
- Change one setting at a time so you know which adjustment fixed the issue.
TradeCopierr is designed to make the copying route easier to inspect, but the final setup still depends on your broker, account type, symbols, permissions, and chosen settings. Use a demo account while you are learning the behavior, then decide whether the setup is appropriate for your own risk plan.
