MT5 Copier Risk Controls: Fixed Lots, Multipliers, Dividers, and Balance Scaling
A master lot size is not automatically the right follower lot size. The follower may have a different balance, contract specification, or risk limit. Copier sizing rules are useful when you understand the calculation they perform.
Fixed lots are easy to audit
A fixed rule sends the same configured volume for each eligible trade. It is straightforward, but it may not fit accounts with very different balances or margin limits.
Multipliers and dividers need a written example
If the master opens 0.20 lots and the follower multiplier is 0.5, write down the expected 0.10 lot result. Test rounding and minimum-volume behavior with the broker's volume step.
Balance scaling is not a risk guarantee
Scaling can make account sizes more comparable, but it still depends on leverage, drawdown, contract size, and open positions. Review the formula and set a cap where the copier supports one.
A sensible way to test it
- Write down the expected result before sending the demo trade.
- Check the terminal history and the copier logs, not only the chart.
- Change one setting at a time so you know which adjustment fixed the issue.
TradeCopierr is designed to make the copying route easier to inspect, but the final setup still depends on your broker, account type, symbols, permissions, and chosen settings. Use a demo account while you are learning the behavior, then decide whether the setup is appropriate for your own risk plan.
